Air Shock Standard, Coil Shock Optional

We have equipped all our Nosfet Apex models with air shocks, our preferred choice due to its balance of performance and comfort. However, recognizing that some riders have different preferences, we also offer a coil shock option.

Coil Shock Options

Coil shocks are available in three spring thicknesses, each tailored to different riding conditions and rider styles:

• 750 lb: Suitable for riders up to 175 lbs; recommended for lighter, on-road use.
• 1000 lb: For riders between 170 to 210 lbs; ideal for light trails and off-road.
• 1300 lb: Designed for riders weighing 190 to 250 lbs; best for aggressive off-road riding.

Choosing the Right Spring for Aggressive Riding

Even lighter riders, who might typically opt for a lighter spring based on their weight, should consider a heavier spring if they engage in aggressive riding. Here's why:

1. Improved Control on Rough Terrain: Aggressive riding often involves tackling more challenging, uneven terrain at higher speeds. A heavier spring provides greater resistance against the shock compressing too rapidly, which helps maintain control and prevents the suspension from bottoming out.

2. Enhanced Responsiveness: Heavier springs are stiffer, which means they rebound faster. This quicker response can be crucial for aggressive riders who need to react swiftly to obstacles and changes in terrain.

3. Better Support During Jumps and Drops: When executing jumps and drops, the impact on landing can be substantial. A heavier spring helps absorb these forces more effectively, reducing the risk of bottoming out the suspension, which can lead to discomfort or damage to the bike.

4. Tailored to Aggressive Techniques: Riders who engage in aggressive techniques such as sharp turns and rapid descents will benefit from the additional support and durability offered by a heavier spring.

Why We Chose the Air Shock

During our testing, we noted that the coil shock’s reservoir may protrude, potentially creating discomfort during rides, especially with aftermarket seats. The air shock design avoids this issue, ensuring a more comfortable ride without compromising on performance when landing jumps.

The Nosfet Apex with the air shock remains our recommendation for most riders due to its superior comfort and performance, but the coil shock provides a robust alternative for those who prefer its handling characteristics.
