What is a Basket Case?

According to the Oxford Dictionary: "A vehicle that has many missing parts or is in a state of severe disrepair; a wreck. Later also more generally: something damaged beyond repair."

If you have a disassembled electric scooter, unicycle, bike, or skateboard that's been sitting around for too long, we’re here to help. Our shop specializes in repairing "basket case" PEVs, but please be aware—these repairs come with additional challenges.

Why Basket Case Repairs Are Different:

When a PEV is disassembled and parts are scattered (or missing), it takes much longer for our technicians to diagnose and fix the issues. With missing screws, degraded batteries, and no manufacturer instructions, the complexity of these jobs increases. From our experience, basket case repairs typically take 1.5 to 2.0 times longer than standard repairs.

Our Approach:

• Our technicians will carefully evaluate and attempt to repair your PEV, but we do not guarantee any outcomes due to the nature of basket case repairs.
• Missing parts or specialty hardware may delay repairs. Any additional parts required will be billed separately.  This includes time spent on the phone or internet tracking down parts.
• We reserve the right to stop work if the repair is deemed too complex. You will still be charged for the time spent on the attempted repairs.
• If we stop or cancel a repair for any reason, reassembling the PEV will incur an additional fee unless otherwise agreed.

Labor Rate:

Our hourly rate for basket case repairs is $200, reflecting the extra time and effort required to handle these intricate jobs.
