Alien Rides is proud to offer an industry-leading two-year comprehensive warranty from the date of product arrival. This warranty applies to any PEVs sold on our website. It does not apply to accessories, chargers, parts, performance parts, and vehicles sold under the RION and Tronic brands (see Performance Vehicle Warranty below).
Before shipping your order, we always perform quality assurance checks for function and damage. Once your new vehicle arrives, please inspect it. Any shipping damage must be reported to us with a video showing 0 miles on the display within 72 hours of receipt.
For questions regarding what is covered by the warranty, please refer to the table below:
Covered by Our 2-Year Warranty:
- Controllers
- Electronic systems (such as throttle components)
- Motor defects
- EUC suspension wear parts (shocks, pump bushings, bearings-sliders): 6 months
- Vesc Controllers: 3 Months- Must register within 3 days of receipt
- Chargers -OEM or Aftermarket Fast Chargers: 12 Months.
Hyper Chargers (any charger 1000 watts or above) 6 months. - Battery in PEVs (Custom Made/Range Extender Packs: 1 Year) See below
Not Covered by Our 2-Year Warranty:
- Water damage (including snow, salt-infused roads, and mud)
- Worn or damaged consumables (1, 2)
- Damage from normal wear and tear
- Crashes, misuse, or mishandling (3)
- User-bricked firmware (4)
- Motor rim
- 3rd party firmware for Begode (will void all warranties), 3rd party lighting or audio
- Brake pads (7)
- Modifications
Consumables Include:
- Tires, inner tubes, brake components (including brake pads, brake calipers, and brake levers), suspension components, hand grips, and other similar items. Flat tires are not covered under warranty.
- EUC motor bearings and shock internals, and shock pumps are also considered consumable items, but we will cover bearing swaps for the first six months.
- Misuse and mishandling include but are not limited to damage from fast charging, exceeding the vehicle's weight and/or speed, misuse of the battery, or improper maintenance (the battery should not be stored at empty or full charge for long periods).
- When a customer bricks their firmware on an EUC or Scooter/PEV, we need to have you call/email in and do some troubleshooting. There is a way with some wheels to force an update (Begode). We may require you to ship in your old board so we can flash it in-house with firmware updating hardware. This may take a few days plus transit. Using third-party firmware will void all Alien Rides warranty. The customer may be liable for complete replacement if the wrong firmware is uploaded without consulting Alien Rides.
- Tronic Vesc controllers have a 30-day warranty provided by Tronic Controllers/RION in Los Angeles, California. 3Shul Controllers have a 90-day warranty. You must register your unit within 7 days of receiving it. Warranty must be approved by 3Shul. This could add a few days. Using improper settings or failing to properly tune your motor before ramping up settings will void your warranty. We are happy to have a remote tune session for 3Shul controllers before going above 50% rated settings. A Vesc controller will rarely blow with properly tuned motor settings. It is very easy to blow a controller if you don't have sensors set up and give too much power. Please be careful and ask for help before just sending it.
- Fast chargers have only a 12-month warranty. The customer must ship back for RMA/Warranty inspection. If it is determined that the charger was blown due to improper use (240/120V selector switch), we will void the warranty. Warranty void if customer modifies original charge tip (or changes out to different style)
- Brake pads are consumable and not covered under warranty. Defects in the brake lever or caliper, such as leaks, may be covered for the first 60 days only, they are not covered after the first 60 days.
We have many customers bring in their wheels with modifications for additional loads on the battery such as audio or lights. If you use a third-party light that draws power from any 5V/12V or main battery bus line, all warranty for electrical components will be void.
Battery Warranty Policy
We strongly advise against opening any lithium-ion battery pack in your Personal Electric Vehicle (PEV). Doing so will void your warranty and may result in potential harm, injury, or property damage. For any battery-related warranty claims, the complete battery must be shipped back to us, securely packaged, via UPS Ground. Our certified battery specialists will conduct thorough tests and, if necessary, replace the BMS (Battery Management System). Please note that we do not sell replacement BMS units or battery cells directly to customers due to liability concerns.
Alien Rides offers remote diagnostics and guidance services to help you fix your PEV once you receive the necessary parts from us. We can also compensate for local repairs if a quote is approved in advance. If video guidance is not preferred, we will repair your PEV at our warehouse free of charge. For domestic orders, the customer is responsible for one-way shipping, and we will cover the cost of shipping the item back.
For warranty parts needed by customers outside the continental United States, the customer is responsible for shipping costs due to the high expense of international shipping.
International customers do not qualify for free shipping on new PEVs. We will provide you with a shipping quote via DHL Air Goods DG (Dangerous Goods), which is the only legal method for shipping lithium-ion batteries. If you prefer to arrange your own sea transportation, that’s fine as well.
All warranty requests must be in writing via email or chat with a timestamp within the terms of your warranty.
When you are shipping in a vehicle for warranty service, any 3rd party accessories that impede service will be billed at $200/hr for removal. Any rusted bolts, pedals, or bent/damaged parts due to rain and heavy use, or additional add-ons that may impede our staff on routine repairs will also be billed at the $200/hr rate. (Main culprits are large aftermarket 3D-printed pads, panels, bent pedal rods, and stripped bolts.)
We try to stock a variety of parts, but occasionally parts will run out. We will do our best to order these parts from the manufacturer.
Our warranty is transferable a single time, but the original owner must notify us of any transfer details, and we must register the warranty under the new owner. We will not proceed with a warranty request until this process is requested by the original purchaser.
All original parts must be returned and inspected before any warranty claims will be processed.
For warranty claims, please fill out the form below, and we will be in touch ASAP.
International warranties are limited due to the complex and expensive shipping rates for parts. For example, we cannot ship batteries outside of the USA for warranty unless it's to Canada. This is due to UN battery shipping laws. For parts, international customers must pay full international shipping, whereas our USA customers do not have to pay anything for normal ground shipping on warranty parts.
Maintaining your Vehicle:
Owning a personal electric scooter requires regular maintenance of critical components, including—but not limited to—brakes, tires, steering assemblies, brake levers, motors, suspension, handlebars, lights, and handles. While we thoroughly inspect all critical bolts and components for tightness and safety during our pre-shipment inspection, it’s essential to periodically recheck these parts to ensure they remain secure, especially after extended use. Scooters experience significant road vibrations due to their small tires and lack of high-end suspension components, which most larger multi-occupancy vehicles do. If you remove any bolts, please reapply thread locker, even if you only slightly back out a screw or fully remove and reinstall it.
Squeaking and Noise Disclaimer
Squeaking and noise are a normal part of owning electric scooters and personal electric vehicles (PEVs). These sounds typically come from suspension pivots, bushings, shocks, or brakes, and are not covered under warranty as they do not affect the safety or functionality of the vehicle.
PEVs are not high-precision engineered products like luxury cars. While some sounds may be undesirable, they are common due to the nature of the components and the lower price point of these vehicles. There is no "Porsche" of PEVs—if there were, the price would be five times higher. These sounds are a normal part of PEV ownership and reflect the balance between performance and affordability.
To reduce noise, we recommend applying lithium or Teflon spray to suspension components. For brake squeaks, cleaning or replacing the brake pads is advised. If using old pads, a blow torch can be used to burn off oil contaminants until the pads stop smoking. However, replacing them with new pads is often the easier solution.
Additionally, the brake disc must be cleaned with brake cleaner. Apply the cleaner to a new paper towel, then spin the tire by hand while wiping the disc. Be sure to wear safety glasses during this process to avoid any contact with cleaning chemicals.
Please note that noise is common across all PEVs and does not indicate a defect.
Performance Vehicle and Part Warranty Specifics
High-performance vehicles, like RIONs, are extremely fast and built to be ridden hard. For all RION and Tronic brand items, we offer:
- Three months to cover manufacturer defects including parts, shipping, and labor.
- After the initial three months, we offer free labor, shipping not included.
- Beyond that, we will always work with you to keep your performance PEV running.
An extended warranty is offered at the time of purchase.
